Notes of the Annual meeting of Electors for Bardney, Southrey, Stainfield and Apley.

Held at Southrey Village Hall

The Vice-Chairman of Bardney Group Parish Council opened the meeting at 7.00pm and thanked everyone for coming and welcomed them to the meeting.

 

At this point the Chairman informed the meeting that voting could not take place as the meeting was not at quorate.

 

 Apologies were received from Cllr S Zubic, Cllr J Zubic, Cllr M Corbould and Cllr R Webb

 

2019 – 1

The notes from the 2018 meeting were read, there were no issues arising from these.

7.15pm

A parishioner joined the meeting.  The chairman said that decisions could be voted on, as the meeting was now deemed to be quorate.

 

2019 – 2

The Chairman gave a presentation highlighting the work that had been carried out by the Parish Council during the past year.  The presentation also included issues still to be addressed in the coming year.

 

2019 – 3

The Vice-Chairman passed on the information given by Richard Waters, Principle, Structures, from the Electors meeting held at Bardney on 7th March 2019.

The bridge will be kept open over Easter.

  • The carriageway on Bardney side of the bridge will be resurfaced at the same time.  A plan showing what would be covered was presented to the meeting.
  • Access will still be available to all properties whilst the road is resurfaced, except if the tarmac is wet.
  • No parking signs and bollards will be put along the Causeway to prevent people parking on both sides.
  • Working hours will be 7.00am-5.00pm, Monday- Friday.  There may be work carried out, outside these times.
  • Access for the public walking, bicycles and motorbikes being pushed, will be available whilst the bridge is closed.
  • Up to date information will be provided by Richard Waters during the closure of the bridge.  It will be out on BGPC website.
  • The diversion which will be put in place has to follow a road of a similar standard or better.  This has made the diversions quite lengthy.
  • The emergency services will take the quickest route regardless of the road standard.
  • There will be temporary lighting on the bridge.

 

 

2019 – 4

  • A parishioner questioned why nothing had been carried out at Southrey Village Hall to commemorate 100 years since the end of WW1 as the village hall was opened as a lasting memory of those who served in the Great War. He also said that no work was carried out at Southrey Memorial.  He was informed that Southrey memorial is situated in the churchyard therefore BGPC are unable to carry out work on this and that BGPC were not aware that the village hall was a memorial to those who had served in the Great War.
  • A parishioner asked who carried out the litter picks.  He was informed that this was carried out by local volunteers.
  • A parishioner asked why a Planning Inspector had not been to a local building site to inspect the works being carried out.  The Clerk would look into this.
  • The meeting was informed that the Community Speed watch would cover Southrey as well but more volunteers were needed.
  • The meeting was given an up date on the works being carried out a New Park Woods.
  • A discussion was held on the new bus timetable which would come into operation when Bardney Bridge was being closed.  A copy of these were given to parishioners attending the meeting.

Cllr Clee gave her apologies and left the meeting at 7.55pm

 

  • A parishioner asked about potholes in the village.  They were informed how to report these.  The condition of a street lamp was also mentioned, the Clerk would look into this.

 

2019 – 5

  • The meeting was asked if they would like the village to enter the Best kept Village competition.  A short discussion was held.

PROPOSAL for Southrey to enter the Best Kept Village competition this yearThe proposal was carried unanimously.

PROPOSED by Julie Close-Mitchell and SECONDED by Bill Lynn

 

The village were informed they would receive the support of BGPC and the handyman to enable them to enter the competition.

There being no further business the meeting closed at 8.25pm
