Meeting commenced at 7.00pm

The Chairman of Bardney Group Parish Council opened the meeting at 7.00pm and thanked everyone for coming and welcomed them to the meeting.

2022-1       Minutes of the 2021/2022 Annual Meeting of Electors were accepted as being correct.

2022-2       Chairman’s Report

The Chairman gave a presentation highlighting the work that has been carried out by the Parish Council during the past year, including our future plans and an analysis of our strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.

Two questions were asked from a resident regarding the cemetery.

In regards to a question about the cost of grave digging and burial of ashes, the Parish Council responded that a full breakdown of the fees is available on our website.

In regards to a question asked about the possibility of internment of ashes taking place at a weekend when it is more convenient for families. The Parish Councils responded that as per the requirements of the ICCM, a member of staff would need to present which would incur more cost and funeral directors do not operate at weekends. Also, owing to Health and Safety and Insurance requirements and the need for the grave digger to be present this would not be possible. However, it was suggested that resident could make an appointment with the Parish Council if they still would like to discuss this matter further.

2022-3       Accounts for organisations linked to BGPC

The accounts from the Bardney Memorial Restoration Fund were available to be viewed at the end of the meeting.

2022-4       Presentation of awards

Community Champion Awards were presented to Warren and Karen Webster and Poppie and her friends for going above and beyond to bring the community together to support others. Jayne Hayes (Southrey) and Josie Exton (Stainfield) were also recipients of the awards for their efforts in helping the local community, but were unfortunately were not present at the meeting.

The esteemed Rogers Shield was presented to Robert Webb for his longstanding service and contribution to the local community as former Chairman of the Parish Council.

2022-5       Items raised by the public.

The following questions were raised by the public:

  1. A resident asked whether anyone had looked in to putting CCTV at known hotspots to discourage anti-social behaviour.

The Parish Council responded that the idea had not been progressed, but we are trying to build relationships with local police looking to get more timely responses and a higher level of police presence. In the previous week the Parish Council has been in discussions with the local Police Inspector and by working together we can try to encourage a reduction in anti-social behaviour through the proper channels.

  1. Formal permission was asked to use the village green for the St Oswald’s Day Service from St Lawrence Church, Bardney.

This permission was verbally granted by the Parish Council. It was also declared that anyone wishing to make use of our land, such as St Oswald’s Park were welcome to make a request as we want to ensure it is used and enjoyed.

Meeting closed 7.55pm
